FIFA Heroes Launches Free-to-Play on Mobile April 28th — Thor vs. Harry Kane, Anyone?

Just weeks before the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, a wildly unexpected entry in the football gaming space is making its move. FIFA Heroes, developed by ENVER Studio, launches free-to-play on iOS, Android, and PC on April 28th — and it's nothing like you'd expect from a game with FIFA in the title.

Forget simulation football. FIFA Heroes is a 5v5 arcade game with hero abilities, blending real-world footballers with mythological figures in a format that has more in common with Overwatch than eFootball. Real players like Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham share the pitch with gods and legends including Thor and Sun Wukong, each bringing unique superpowered abilities to fast-paced matches that last just a few minutes.

It sounds absurd — and frankly, it is — but ENVER Studio appears to be leaning fully into the chaos. The character designs are stylized and colorful, the abilities are over-the-top (Bellingham apparently has a charged tackle that sends opponents flying), and the matches are built for quick mobile sessions rather than the 90-minute affairs of traditional football games.

The timing is no coincidence. With the 2026 FIFA World Cup set to dominate global attention this summer, FIFA Heroes is positioning itself as the casual, pick-up-and-play football game for the tournament's massive audience. Cross-progression across mobile and PC is confirmed, with Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox versions planned for later in the year.

The free-to-play model raises the usual questions about monetization balance, but the early previews suggest the gameplay core is solid. Whether FIFA Heroes can carve out its own niche in a mobile market dominated by established football franchises remains to be seen, but the sheer novelty of watching Thor tackle Harry Kane might be enough to earn it a download.
