Sony has officially unveiled the PlayStation Plus Essential lineup for May 2026, and it is a strong month for subscribers. Starting May 5, all PS Plus members can claim three titles at no extra cost: EA Sports FC 26, the Wuxia-flavored soulslike Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, and the critically acclaimed 2D action-platformer Nine Sols.
The announcement, made through the PlayStation Blog on April 29, also confirms that PS Plus members will receive a bonus EA Sports FC 26 PlayStation Plus Icons Pack as part of the deal.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers — The Headliner
The standout of the trio is undoubtedly Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, a soulslike action RPG set during the final years of China's Ming Dynasty. Developed by Leenzee Games, the game blends wire-fu acrobatics and graceful swordplay with the punishing combat loop that fans of the genre expect. Players master a range of weapons, battle grotesque creatures, and uncover the truth behind a mysterious phenomenon known as Feathering.
Wuchang drew favorable comparisons to Wo Long and Black Myth: Wukong upon launch, and offering it through PS Plus should expose it to a much wider audience.

EA Sports FC 26 — For the Pitch
EA Sports FC 26 needs little introduction. The latest entry in EA's football franchise brings over 20,000 players across 750+ clubs and national teams, competing in 120+ stadiums and 35+ licensed leagues. Whether you are grinding Ultimate Team or playing through career mode, FC 26 is a reliable pick for sports fans who missed the original launch window.
Nine Sols — A Hidden Gem Gets Its Spotlight
Rounding out the month is Nine Sols, a Sekiro-inspired 2D action-platformer with metroidvania DNA. Developed by Red Candle Games, it follows a vengeful hero on a quest to slay the powerful rulers of a forsaken realm. The hand-drawn art direction and tight deflect-based combat earned it widespread critical praise and a devoted community since its 2024 PC release.

The Bigger Picture
May's lineup lands at an interesting moment for PlayStation. The PS Plus Essential tier has faced criticism in recent months for inconsistent quality, but a package that includes a AAA sports title, a polished soulslike, and one of 2024's most lauded indie games is a clear step up. All three titles will be available for download from May 5 through June 2.
