Stormind Games' horror trilogy reaches its last chapter today. Remothered: Red Nun's Legacy launches on October 27 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, where it is sold through Steam, the Epic Games Store and GOG. It is the third Remothered game after Tormented Fathers (2018) and Broken Porcelain (2020), and the Italian studio pitches it as the entry that closes the story of the Red Nun for good.
A mother, a missing girl and a villa on Etna
The new protagonist is Susan Harper. More than a year after six young girls disappeared in Sicily, a strange recording convinces her that her daughter Agata might still be alive. Against all reason, she follows the trail to a decaying noble estate on the slopes of Mount Etna that once belonged to the Ashmann family. What begins as a rescue turns into a slow descent through family secrets, hidden symbols and something the game calls hypnotic phenomena.
The wider mystery reaches back to the Cristo Morente, a Sicilian convent where the myth of the Red Nun was born. Stormind describes it as a place of burned faith, buried guilt and forbidden rituals, and the player pieces its history together room by room. The developer has framed the whole thing as an Italian neo-giallo, borrowing the colour, the masks and the obsessive mood of 1970s Italian thriller cinema rather than the grey palette most modern horror games settle on.
The game sits in the classic third-person survival-horror mould: explore a large interconnected location, find key items, solve puzzles to open new areas and keep moving toward the final revelation. Stormind calls it a love letter to the genre's old guard, but with modern pacing, controls and production values. It is also written so that newcomers can start here; you do not need to have played the earlier games to follow Susan's story.
Stalkers you mostly cannot kill
As in earlier Remothered games, the core threat is a small cast of Stalkers who hunt you through the house. The rule is to hide, evade and break line of sight, and only fight back in the critical moments when you are caught. Improvised weapons buy you an escape rather than a win, and the studio stresses that a single mistake can end a run.

The Stalkers are designed as characters as much as enemies. The villa's residents each have their own connection to what happened at the estate, and the developer has been introducing them in a series of posts ahead of launch. Expect masked figures, lace veils and theatrical costumes rather than generic monsters.
Hypnosis is the new idea
The headline mechanic is a set of hypnosis powers. Retrocognition lets Susan read forgotten memories left in the environment, mirror abilities reveal paths that are not otherwise there, and moth manipulation lets her twist her surroundings to her advantage. In Stormind's own dev diaries, game director Antonio Cutrona and art director Patrik Lega describe hypnosis as an active tool woven into both exploration and survival, not a cutscene effect.

That gives the familiar loop of searching, hiding and backtracking an extra layer: a locked route might be opened by a memory rather than a key, and an enemy might be dodged by changing the room around them rather than outrunning them.
Akira Yamaoka, Cissy Jones and Maggie Robertson
The audio and voice line-up is unusually strong for a mid-sized horror game. The soundtrack is by Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka together with Aram Shahbazians. Susan is played by BAFTA Games Awards winner Cissy Jones, and the Red Nun herself is voiced by The Game Awards winner Maggie Robertson, best known as Lady Dimitrescu.
A Deluxe Edition bundles the full game with a digital artbook and the digital soundtrack, which makes it the version to look at if Yamaoka's involvement is part of the draw. A physical edition is also planned for PS5 and Switch 2.

PC specs
The Steam listing asks for a fairly modern machine, and both tiers require Windows 11 64-bit and 50 GB of free storage.
Minimum: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X or Intel Core i5-11600K, 16 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, 50 GB storage.
Recommended: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X or Intel Core i5-12600K, 24 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT, 50 GB storage.
The 24 GB RAM recommendation is the number to notice: it is an unusual figure, so 16 GB machines should plan on running at the lower tier. The Steam page did not list a price at the time of writing.
Just in time for Halloween
Stormind set the date deliberately close to Halloween, and the game ran a demo during Steam Next Fest earlier this month. With the remasters of the first two games also in the pipeline for early 2027, today's launch is the start of a busy stretch for the series.
