Pokémon UNITE is shutting down. The Pokémon Company and developer TiMi Studio Group have announced that service for the free-to-play team battler will end on Tuesday, March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC, on both Nintendo Switch and mobile. That gives the game a little under five months of life left, and a few changes take effect immediately: as of 05:00 UTC today, October 27, Aeos gems are no longer on sale and new UNITE Club memberships can no longer be bought.
What happens today
The wind-down starts with the store. Aeos gems, the premium currency used for Holowear, battle passes and other cosmetics, were pulled from sale at 05:00 UTC on October 27. Gems already in your account are not lost: you can keep spending them right up until the servers go dark in March.
The UNITE Club monthly membership is being handled the same way. Nobody can sign up for it any more, and automatic renewals for current members have been switched off. If you are a member today, your benefits keep working until your current paid period runs out, and then the membership simply lapses rather than charging you again. Nothing needs to be cancelled by hand.

The final event and the library feature
The developers are not just switching the lights off. An update on Thursday, November 12, 2026 brings a farewell event and a new library feature. During the event, players will be able to pick up a range of items, including Unite licenses and Holowear from across the game's history. In practice that means much of the roster and a big chunk of the cosmetics catalogue will be available to people who never got them the first time, for the last few months the game is playable.
The library is the part worth paying attention to. It lets you view certain records and in-game content after service has ended, but only if you download the required library data before the shutdown at 00:00 UTC on March 23, 2027. Miss that window and the library will not be available to you afterwards. The library data is also tied to the device: it generally cannot be moved to a new phone or console, and there will be no support for the feature once the game has closed. If you want to keep a record of your time in the game, download it on the device you plan to keep.
After March 23, you will no longer be able to log in or play matches. The library will be the only part of the game that still works, and only for players who prepared for it. Support stays open for any problems until the shutdown.
Esports carries on to the end
The competitive scene gets a send-off as well. The Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo tournament, an event for Pokémon UNITE alone, is still going ahead as previously announced. Its qualifiers start on Saturday, December 5, 2026, which makes the tournament the game's last big competitive stage.

Nearly six years of UNITE
Pokémon UNITE launched on Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2021, and arrived on iOS and Android on September 22 that year. It took the multiplayer online battle arena format and reshaped it around the series: two teams of five Pokémon fight over a map, beat wild Pokémon to collect Aeos energy, and score by dunking that energy into the other team's goal zones. Matches were short, the controls were simple, and Pokémon levelled up and evolved within a single game, which made it one of the easiest MOBAs to pick up.
It was also free to start on every platform. Its business ran on cosmetics, battle passes, the UNITE Club subscription and paid licenses for new Pokémon, and the end of gem sales today shuts down that business, long before the servers close.
