Zenless Zone Zero Unleashes S-Rank Starlight Billy in Version 2.8 - and Confirms a Steam Launch

Zenless Zone Zero is closing out its second season with a bang. HoYoverse’s stylish urban action-RPG has rolled out the Phase 2 lineup of Version 2.8, headlined by the long-teased transformation of fan-favorite Billy Kid into the screen-stealing S-Rank agent Starlight Billy.

Running from May 27 through June 16, Starlight Billy’s debut banner — “Starlight, Shine Bright” — introduces the game’s first Physical Rupture agent. It is a major glow-up for a character who started as a humble A-rank gunslinger, reimagined here as a flashy showman who fights like the star of his own action serial. Sharing the spotlight is a rerun “Wrathborn Duo” banner featuring Orphie and Magus.

Version 2.8 marks the finale of the game’s second season, capping it with two brand-new S-Rank agents. Phase 1 belonged to Promeia, the game’s first Ice Anomaly unit, before Starlight Billy took center stage for the back half of the patch.

And it’s finally coming to Steam

The bigger long-term news landed alongside the update: Zenless Zone Zero is officially heading to Steam. The store page is now live for wishlisting, sign-ups for Steam Advance Testing have opened, and HoYoverse has confirmed cross-platform save sync so players can pick up exactly where they left off on mobile, PC or PlayStation 5.

The Steam arrival should open the floodgates to a wave of new Proxies, and the timing is no accident — a fresh S-rank, a returning duo and a high-profile platform launch make this one of the busiest stretches the game has seen. Version 2.8 is live now on iOS, Android, PC and PS5, with the Steam edition set to follow in the months ahead.
