Zenless Zone Zero Heads to Steam and Unveils Version 2.8 With Two New S-Rank Agents

HoYoverse delivered a double dose of news during the Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.8 Special Program on April 24. Not only will the next major update — titled "New: Eridan Sunset" — launch on May 6, but the studio also confirmed that Zenless Zone Zero is officially heading to Steam, marking a significant expansion for the urban fantasy ARPG.

Steam Launch Opens New Doors

Zenless Zone Zero has been available on PC through HoYoverse's own launcher, as well as on PlayStation 5, iOS, and Android since its original launch. The Steam release, slated for Q2 2026, will bring the game to a massive new audience on the world's largest PC gaming storefront. The Steam store page is already live, and sign-ups for a Steam Advance Testing phase are now open for players who want early access.

The Steam version will support the America, Europe, Asia, and TW/HK/MO servers, keeping it in line with the existing global infrastructure. Cross-save functionality means existing players can pick up right where they left off regardless of platform.

Two New S-Rank Agents Incoming

Version 2.8 introduces two new S-Rank agents that are sure to shake up the meta. The first is Promeia, an Ice Anomaly specialist and executioner of Krampus. She excels at triggering Abloom on enemies by consuming Trial by Cold, a unique mechanic that converts Corrosive Chill stacks into devastating ice bursts. Promeia launches in Phase 1 alongside a Lucia rerun banner.

Phase 2 brings Starlight Billy, an upgraded form of fan-favorite agent Billy Kid. Funded by — as the game's lore charmingly puts it — half a year of his salary paid in advance, Starlight Billy is the game's first Physical Rupture S-Rank agent. Armed with a combat motorcycle and his signature Starlight Knight flying kick, he delivers massive Physical burst damage that should reshape team compositions. His banner will run alongside reruns for Orphie and Magus.

Season 2 Finale and Quality-of-Life Updates

Version 2.8 also serves as the finale to Zenless Zone Zero's Season 2, closing out the current story arc before the game transitions into its highly anticipated third season. The update includes a new ethereal outfit for Hoshimi Miyabi, a new Wind-attribute enemy type, and multiple quality-of-life system optimizations that the community has been requesting for months.

Between the Steam launch bringing fresh players into the fold and Version 2.8 delivering two high-profile S-Rank agents plus a story climax, the next few weeks are shaping up to be the biggest moment for Zenless Zone Zero since its original debut. Save your Polychrome — you are going to need it. The Version 2.8 update goes live across all platforms on May 6, 2026.
