Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 Arrives November 6: Shoot House in the Snow, DMZ's X01 Facility and a Catch-Up Battle Pass

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's first season launches November 6 with five new Multiplayer maps across the season, Grind and Drop Zone, a sealed DMZ weapons facility called X01, two Warzone maps and a Battle Pass that automatically catches up late buyers.

Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 Arrives November 6: Shoot House in the Snow, DMZ's X01 Facility and a Catch-Up Battle Pass

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has been out for a week, and Activision has now set out the first season of post-launch content. Season 1 goes live on November 6 across Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone. It brings three new Multiplayer maps on day one and two more at mid-season, three returning or new modes, a sealed-off weapons facility for DMZ called X01, two new Warzone maps, two new guns and a reworked Battle Pass with a catch-up system for players who fall behind.

Three Multiplayer maps on day one

Season 1 opens with three maps. Backstab is a new war-torn map played in bad weather, with abandoned tanks scattered across it and a deserted house whose shelves are stocked with drone ordnance. Canyon, also new, is set between towering rock walls and splits into two broad approaches: a riverside route past the remains of a convoy ambush, and a winding cliff path above it.

The third map is a familiar one. Shoot House, a fan favourite from earlier Modern Warfare games, comes back reimagined for this game's setting. It now sits in rugged North Korean terrain during a snowfall, which ties it to the snowbound look of Modern Warfare 4's campaign.

Modern Warfare 4 leans on rough terrain and changing weather, and Season 1 adds more of both.

Grind and Drop Zone return

Two modes arrive with the season. Grind is the dog-tag banking mode: you eliminate enemies, pick up the tags they drop and carry them to a Bank to score for your team, which means a full pocket of tags is worth nothing until you deliver it. Drop Zone also returns, with both teams fighting over a single objective that rotates around the map, while Killstreak packages are airdropped into whichever zone is active at regular intervals.

Mid-season: Ministry, Overflow and Counter Attack

More arrives partway through the season. Ministry is a new map set at an embassy during a diplomatic summit, with the fighting taking place both inside the building and around its grounds. Overflow is centred on a factory and the farmland around it. The mid-season update also brings Counter Attack, a new mode in which each team tries to detonate bombs at the enemy's Comm Station while defending its own. Activision has not yet given a date for the mid-season drop.

DMZ: the X01 weapons facility

DMZ, the extraction mode that returned with Modern Warfare 4, gets the season's biggest single addition. X01 is a previously undiscovered weapons facility that enemy forces have taken over. Activision describes it as a maze of tunnels with shifting hazards, built for squads that plan their route and bring the right equipment.

The catch is the exit. As a run goes on, the facility progressively closes off its extraction points, so squads have to complete a set of steps to get out before they are sealed in. Powerful new equipment is waiting inside to make the risk worthwhile.

X01 also comes with several pages of new DMZ Orders, a Threat Briefing system for hunting the mode's biggest Boss targets (including Commanders), and Resupply Runs.

Warzone gets Hajin and Zodiac

Call of Duty: Warzone gets two new maps of its own in Season 1, Hajin and Zodiac. Activision says they come with additional modes and gameplay features. A full Warzone roadmap for the season is still to come, so the specifics of what is playable on each map at launch have not been confirmed yet.

Two new weapons and a Battle Pass that catches you up

Two weapons are part of the Season 1 Battle Pass. The Cronen Osprey is an assault rifle that balances handling speed with moderate damage, pitched as a dependable front-line pick. The CSG-35 is a submachine gun with the highest fire rate in its class, designed for close-range fights.

The Battle Pass itself has been reworked. It is now a single linear track of 100 tiers, and you collect rewards by logging in and playing. In total it carries more than 100 unlockable items, including Operator Skins, Weapon Blueprints and Finishing Moves, plus DMZ Survival Kits.

The bigger change is a catch-up system for the premium pass. If you buy it and fall behind, you are automatically advanced to the reward that matches the current day of the season, up to day 50. Activision says that guarantees more than 50 rewards to anyone who buys the premium pass, however late they start or however little they play.

When it starts

Season 1 goes live on November 6 on every platform Modern Warfare 4 is available on: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. Warzone's maps arrive the same day, and the rest of the Warzone roadmap is due before then.
